Aegina & Saint Nektarios

Aegina is a picturesque Greek island just a short distance from Athens. Known for its rich history, natural beauty, and historical importance. One of the island's notable landmarks is the Monastery of Saint Nektarios, a site of profound religious importance dedicated to this beloved saint. The monastery's main church is adorned with exquisite Byzantine-style artwork, boasting frescoes and icons that vividly depict the life and miraculous deeds of Saint Nektarios. Saint Nektarios, a prominent figure in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, was renowned for his unwavering piety, profound humility, and dedicated charitable work. Following his passing in 1920, his reputation as a healer and miracle worker led to his canonization by the Greek Orthodox Church.
