The Ionian Village Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all all camp documents and office programing is created and communicated accurately. The Program Coordinator owns all the documents, lists, finances, schedules, and information moving in and out of the office between the Admin team and the cabin Staff.


The ideal Program Coordinator is:

Professionally: Organized, Detail-oriented, receptive, timely, adaptable, fast learning.

Personally: Focused, positive, effective communicator, resourceful, creative. 


Working as the Program Coordinator for Ionian Village should not be viewed as a vacation. You will be expected to work a 24-hour day, 7 days a week while camp is in session. The Program Coordinator works behind the scenes to make sure the camp runs smoothly and provides a high level experience for the campers of Ionian Village. While demanding, it is an extremely rewarding experience.

This is a paid position which also includes; round-trip airfare from JFK Airport in New York to Greece and full room and board while you are working during the camp sessions. Travel to New York is at your own expense. Any personal shopping while camp is in session is at your own expense. You are responsible for your own travel, lodging, and meals during the three day break in-between sessions.

Program Coordinator responsibilities at Ionian Village include, but are not limited to, the following:

Pre-Camp: Participate in training conference calls (2-3 throughout April-May), thoroughly read camp manuals

Schedule: Ownership of the camp’s schedules for Admin, Staff, and campers, and the Greek staff

Communicate: Creating, editing, and delivering verbal and written communication, as well as, be the point of contact for restaurants and hotels and make the bookings/reservations

Organize: Maintaining and organize the Ionian Village digital office in dropbox and physical office

Edit: Overseeing the editing and adjusting of files and documents as the program continually adapts throughout the summer

Support: Supporting the cabin Staff and Admin in the execution of daily camp activities                                                                                                                              

-Finance: Document and manage the camp finances for the summer period

Arrival/Departure: Support the Staff with preparation and execution of camper Arrival and Departure days

Travel: Assist with Program on travel days

Expectations of the Program Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following:

Availability: Be able and committed to work June 13th - August 14th, 2019. If you are accepted and are no longer to meet the needs of the program, please be prepared to resign your acceptance. 

Impeccability: Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, recognizing that we are guests of the Greek Government and representatives of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Model: Be a positive Orthodox Christian role model for campers and others, which includes adhering to camp policies and rules, maintaining cleanliness, punctuality, sportsmanship, table manners, proper dress attire and Orthodox faith and morality.

Rapport: Ability to build rapport through your leadership

Communication: Model professional verbal and written communication skills with Admin, Cabin Staff, and Greek Staff

Meetings: Attend all Admin meetings

Stamina: Excel under pressure in a fast paced environment

Discretion: Should possess the ability to work independently behind the scenes

Resilience: Be able to take direction and constructive criticism.

Computer skills: Excellent knowledge in excel, word, and formatting information in an effective way

Education: Must have graduated from High school in 2017 or earlier with a diploma or GED

Experience: Previous Ionian Village experience is desired but not mandatory (employee or camper)

Discretion: Should possess the ability to work independently behind the scenes

- No alcohol, drugs or acting out of any kind.
- Extreme care must be exercised in all interpersonal relationships involving staff members and campers.
- Non-professional conduct will not be tolerated and may be grounds for dismissal.



The Program Application process includes three main components: A resume, cover letter, and video conference interview.
